i was reading the CU forums a few days ago and found this post about an awesome custom card featuring Charley Pride, made by by Bob Lemke to resemble the 1954 Bowman baseball set..
yes, Charley Pride the hall-of-fame country music singer was a professional baseball in the Negro Leagues before he made a name for himself in music..

this is my “white whale” card, but the problem is, it isn’t mine.. i rarely see one of these on ebay, but i’ve never been able to make myself spend that kind of money on it yet.. but ONE DAY!
this is a nice one, graded SGC 86 (NM+)..

first of all, i deleted my PSA Registry sets, i haven’t looked at them in a long time, i never got around to uploading scans (i tried once, and it said my file was invalid or too big or something, but I’ve never had a problem here or on photobucket)..
I also don’t understand why on my PSA registry I had 2 items listed that “didn’t fit” in my sets or whatever.. seriously? I had a MASTER set and a BASIC set, I know the difference between the two, but how the hell can a RICKEY HENDERSON card not fit into my Master Set?
Anyway, i was tired of it, and deleted everything.. maybe one day I’ll start another one, but right now I’m happy with my photo gallery here..
I recently sold a few of my graded cards to a fellow Rickey collector who is putting together a basic Topps graded set, so i’ll eventually want to replace those cards, unless i decide to sell everything, which is very possible, since i’m trying to raise money for other things in life..
however, it’s still hard for me to resist adding new cards to the collection.. here are a couple that i recently got graded thanks to Gumbyfan and the group submission on CU.
yep.. i haven’t actually decided to sell yet, but i’ve been thinking about it.. i have several things i’m trying to raise money for, and the Rickey Henderson cards might have to take a backseat to other things more important in life right now, unfortunately.. but maybe not.
holy crap he’s gonna get his head knocked off by Hong Man Choi, who is a 7’2″ 350lb Korean dude with some legit MMA experience.. while Canseco was fighting danny bonaduce, Hong Man Choi (aka “The Techno Goliath”) was fighting Fedor..
ive been an MMA fan since i first saw UFC 3 on VHS back in the 90′s, and couple that with being an Oakland A’s fan back in the “Bash Brothers” day, and it makes probably the most awesome fight i’ve ever looked forward to.. pure entertainment.
